Questa mattina stavo cercando la soluzione ad un piccolo problema causato dall'ultimo aggiornamento di Thunderbird per WinXP alla versione 2.0.0.22. Questo bug non permetteva più di mandare e-mail da altre applicazioni, come per esempio il programma di fatturazione. Cercavo quindi l'installer dell'ultima versione per reinstallare tutto. Alla fine ho risolto semplicemente installando tutto sopra la versione esistente, senza disinstallare e/o perdere dati e di questo sono molto soddisfatta!

Gironzolando sul sito degli applicativi Mozilla ho notato dei progetti che non avevo mai visto prima: Sunbird e Lightning. Si tratta di due applicativi che gestiscono i calendari un po' come fa Outlook. Sunbird è un programma a se e si occupa solo degli appuntamenti e delle attività mentre Lightning, se non ho capito male, si accoppia a Thunderbird creando un programma simile ad Outlook oltre che a richiamare molto un verso di Bohemian Rapsody: "Thunderbolt and Lightning, very very frightening me ..." )

La mia necessità è avere un calendario sincronizzato con il pocket pc, dove vi siano gli stessi appuntamenti e che mi aiuti ad inserirli con facilità.... Per quanto riguarda i contatti non mi interessa averli sincronizzati. Ho scelto quindi di installare Sunbird.

Birdiesync è una versione trial fully functional per 21 giorni. Dopodichè la registrazione del software ha un costo di 19,95€, che sarò felice di pagare agli sviluppatori per avermi fronito un applicativo così utile.

Tra gli add-on di Sunbird inoltre ce n'è uno che permette di sincronizzarsi con Google Calendar.... e che Sync sia!
